The National Conference for the “Media and Civil Society Cooperation for Rights of Refugees” project, was held at the Conrad Istanbul Bosphorus Hotel on the 30th of January, 2019. This project was run by IGAM, in partnership with the Journalists’ Association, funded by the European Union Delegation to Turkey.
The opening speeches were made by Deputy Director of Directorate General of Migration Management, Mr. Gökçe Ok; the Secretary-General of the Journalists' Association, Mr. Ümit Gürtuna; the President of Delegation of the European Union to Turkey, Ambassador Mr. Christian Berger; and the President of İGAM, Mr. Metin Çorabatır.
After the opening speeches, the project coordinator Ms. Esra Yurt shared the content of the project, target audience, purpose and outputs with the participants.
Prof. Dr. Ülkü Doğanay presented her report "Media 18-Month Monitoring Report", which is one of the most important elements of the project. Please click Here to read the report.
After the presentations, the panel moderated by Prof. Dr. Murat Erdoğan was held. Prof. Dr. Ülkü Doğanay, Journalist Semra Topçu, Journalist Mete Çubukçu, Businessman Nizar Bitar and President of İGAM, Metin Çorabatır were the panelist at the National Conference. There were also many press members from national and local media, scholars and NGOs' members who shared their opinion during the panel.
